About
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism/News Editorial Sequence from Ohio State University, where I received instruction in news writing, copy editing, layout, typography, and photojournalism. I have also studied typography at The School of the Art Institute in Chicago, Information Mapping at Information Mapping, Inc. in Waltham, MA., and Flash Development and Advanced CSS at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines/Skokie, IL.
Since 1987, I have been employed as a Technical Writer in the software industry, responsible for designing and writing user documentation and online help for Windows and multi-platform software products. Since 1999, I have also been a freelance Web designer.
In all of the services that I provide, I emphasize clear writing, clean design, and straightforward and complete instructions.
Services
I offer the following services:
- Web Design—Design of Web site based upon customer preferences. Can create new logo or incorporate existing logo. Can provide templates for customer use or can implement approved design using HTML and CSS. Design includes the selection of Web site fonts, colors, and stock photography.
- Technical Writing—User manuals, installation manuals, quick start/tutorial guides, training manuals, white papers, and Knowledge Base articles.
- User Interface Design—Review the user interface of existing software tools and provide suggestions to improve usability, consistency, and professionalism.
- Desktop Publishing—Logo design, brochure design, business card design, PowerPoint presentations, and other marketing related business communications.
